The “Moscow Longevity” project in collaboration with the digital platform “Electronic Home” conducts interactive classes for senior city residents. They take place weekly in 135 Moscow longevity centers and will continue until December 22. Participants improve their digital literacy, acquire new skills in the housing and utilities sector, get acquainted with the possibilities of city services, and reinforce their knowledge in practice. Prior registration is required to attend website.

The organizers replaced traditional lectures with an interactive format. Meetings with experts from the “Electronic Home” platform include a brief presentation, a dynamic quiz, and a practical session. They take place in the format of a team game. Participants form groups of three to four people and answer 20–25 questions about the platform’s functions, housing and communal services, and Moscow. Each answer is allotted 30 seconds. During the game, the host talks about the possibilities of the digital service.

The main feature of the project is that participants can immediately apply the knowledge they have gained. Experts help them to register in the personal account, confirm ownership of the property, set up guest access, and submit an application to the management company. This format allows for turning theoretical knowledge into real skills and removes the psychological barrier towards technology.

“Digital literacy today is not just a skill, but a tool for a comfortable and safe life. We regularly organize specialized sessions, for example within the framework of the ‘School of Financial Confidence’ or at lectures by the heads of the ‘My Documents’ centers. Our participants not only learn but also actively compete, becoming winners of intellectual tournaments and sports competitions. In addition, numerous project partners organize special courses on cyber literacy and digital hygiene for older generations to help them confidently and safely navigate the digital world. The ‘Electronic Home’ platform seamlessly integrates into this system: it enables handling utility issues without queues and unnecessary paperwork, and the interactive quiz format helps to easily master useful services,” said the Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow.

Vladimir Filippov.

In the classes, city residents learn how to submit meter readings by photograph, pay a unified payment document, and communicate safely with neighbors. Particular interest is aroused by the ability to participate in general meetings of owners electronically and the incentive system. For example, inviting neighbors using a promo code can earn 200 points in the city’s loyalty program “Million Prizes.”

“We are often asked how older people use the project. The answer: very actively! More than 30 percent of Electronic House users are over 55 years old. We see that they master digital services faster and more responsibly than commonly believed. The quiz format works great: it turns learning the app’s functions into an exciting and rewarding competition. And live on-site consultations allow resolving 90 percent of typical issues — from password recovery to voting rules — in just one visit,” added Alena Krutakova, head of the Electronic House project.

The “Academy of Competent Owners” continues to operate for everyone interested. Experts from the “Electronic Home” platform hold in-depth lectures weekly in both online and offline formats about participation in general meetings of owners and tenants’ rights.

In addition, senior citizens are invited to autumn marathon in the Moscow longevity centers and at partner venues. As was previously stated Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, participants can expect seven thematic blocks on various topics, as well as two new courses — “Barista School” and “School of Russian Tea Tradition”.
