The professional skills contest “Best Master” was held at the Press-Frame Plant of PJSC KAMAZ.
Eighteen people participated in the competition. The professional contest included several stages. First, the contestants faced a theoretical challenge: for an hour, the masters answered 100 test questions on various topics – safety, personnel management, quality standards, principles of the KAMAZ Production System – all that defines the plant’s daily work. Special interest was aroused by the interactive stage with video analysis of the adaptation process. On the screen, a scenario taken from plant practice unfolded. The masters carefully examined the new employee’s first working day and looked for shortcomings from the organizational point of view.
Next was the team competition. Five teams took part, representing different divisions – the Frame Plant, the Press Plant, the Welding and Painting Plant, the Cabin Frame Plant, as well as the Chief Engineer’s Service. First, they underwent a psychological workshop. The task was to quickly resolve a conflict that arose within the team and settle all issues among the disputing participants. The masters succeeded, demonstrating the ability to listen, remain calm, and find compromises. In simulated situations, they showed how to build a dialogue so that the conflict became a growth point. During the technical task, the teams were assigned to develop a standard operating card (SOC) for training a new employee assigned to assemble an electrical circuit. The exam was conducted on the spot: the participants themselves acted as the newcomers. They tested in practice how clearly the algorithm was written and personally saw how a well-detailed card impacts the speed and quality of the employee’s work. The final stage of the competition was a creative task. The masters analyzed fragments of the legendary film “The Gas Station Queen,” identifying errors in staff training.
The judges of the competition were the chief specialist Rashit Kharrasov, the head of the personnel department bureau Albina Safina, and the chairman of the Masters Council Irina Tyutyugina. The winners will represent the plant at the KamAZ-wide contest.
