“Due to the shortening of daylight hours, necessary adjustments have been made to the schedule of the city’s outdoor lighting. The system has been switched to winter mode, so now the street lamps and architectural-artistic lighting of buildings are turned on earlier and turned off correspondingly later,” noted Petr Biryukov.
A daily schedule for turning the capital’s lighting and illumination on and off was previously created. This document is used by the dispatchers of the network control center of JSC “United Energy Company” when making decisions. In addition, the schedule can be influenced by the actual lighting level, which special sensors track in real time.
When a certain threshold is reached, a corresponding signal is received. The dispatcher can adjust the schedule due to bad weather. For example, if it is cloudy, snowing, or raining heavily during the day, the lighting will be turned on earlier.
The head of the urban economy complex reminded that the architectural and artistic lighting of buildings in Moscow is turned on simultaneously with the outdoor lighting but is turned off at different times.
