The saiga antelope population in Kazakhstan has grown from fewer than 20,000 individuals to more than 2.8 million. In Armenia, which is hosting the UN Biodiversity Conference this year, about 20 tons of food waste were kept out of landfills thanks to an educational composting project. These examples are presented in the first global report on the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. However, overall the world is lagging behind: less than half of national targets are being met on schedule, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated on Thursday in Yerevan while presenting the report.
