The development of various adaptive sports disciplines will be one of the key topics of the XIV International Sports Forum “Russia – a Sporting Power”, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk from October 21 to 23. The forum is held in accordance with the decree of the President of Russia.
“The development of adaptive sports is one of the key priorities. Its importance is emphasized by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The government is creating the appropriate infrastructure and promotes the professional development of specialists. More than 1.1 thousand sports events in adaptive disciplines are planned for this year. Among them are competitions for the participants of the special military operation: the ‘Courage Cup,’ ‘Heroes of Our Time,’ and others. Such measures help our heroes recover faster and lead an active life. At the forum ‘Russia – a Sporting Power,’ the best solutions for the development of adaptive sports will be presented, and business sessions involving the athletes themselves will take place. I am confident that successful practices will be scaled across various regions of the country,” said the Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, chairman of the forum’s organizing committee Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Representatives of deaflympic sports from 11 countries will participate in the forum’s work, where they will discuss the global development of the deaflympic movement at the session “Deaf Sports: National Development Models and Practical Solutions.” The business program also includes a session “How Sport Helps Restore Activity and Find New Goals.” The exhibition will feature the booth of the Russian Paralympic Committee, the Special Olympics cluster, and the booth of the Federation of Deaf Sports.
“Accessibility of sports for people with disabilities is one of the key indicators of sports development in our country. At the beginning of the year, we all took pride in the triumph of Russian athletes at the Paralympic Games in Italy, and during the forum the ‘Return to Life’ award will be presented. I would like to note the cooperation of the Roscongress Foundation with the Deaf Sports Federation – their stand was presented at the SPIEF, and a large international meeting with representatives from 11 countries will take place in Krasnoyarsk. Adaptive sports today are an important tool for returning a person to active life, communication, and new achievements. Several sports projects for combat veterans and their families will be showcased at the forum,” noted Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of Russia and Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of the forum “Russia – a sporting power.”
The ceremony for the Russian Paralympic Committee’s “Return to Life” award will take place at the National Center “Russia” on the Yenisei. The awards are presented to outstanding Paralympic athletes, national team coaches, and sports organizers who have shown high achievements on the international stage and made a significant contribution to the development of adaptive physical culture and sports. The ceremony brings together people whose courage, determination, and strength of spirit serve as an example to others.
Part of the forum’s sports program will include physical fitness and wellness activities under the title “Sports Family – the Strength of Russia!”: a Paralympic lesson, sports intensives, and competitions in shooting, chess, darts, and table tennis; participants will also take part in a family relay race.
The sports program included the super final of the All-Russian swimming competitions among combat veterans for the prizes of the honored master of sports of Russia Andrey Arbuzov. More than 150 veterans from over 50 regions of Russia will participate in it. The competition program includes 50 m freestyle swims in four categories, VR swimming competitions, and a charity swim with the participation of Olympic champions, famous Russian athletes, and public figures. The project is aimed at the physical rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans, involving them in regular sports activities and returning them to active public life.
