What portion of our lives does work take up? For some, a third, for others half, and for some even more. When you love your job, you don’t count the minutes. And, of course, much in work depends on who surrounds you. The most difficult tasks become easier if there is a colleague nearby ready to lend a friendly shoulder, encourage with words, and help with actions. The ability to be attentive to others, the skill to defuse a tense situation, to cheer up, show care, create a cozy atmosphere in the office, or simply lift someone’s mood with a friendly smile — these are not professional, but human qualities, yet they are no less important within a team.
Undoubtedly, people who possess these subtle qualities deserve words of gratitude. But they deserve even more — recognition. To make the entire Polytechnic aware of its best employees — the kindest, most caring, attentive, responsive, extraordinary, interesting, and versatile — the university established the corporate award “POLYTECH. PEOPLE.” Its slogan is: “You are in your place.”
People are the main value of Polytech, because it is thanks to our employees that the university preserves its traditions and moves forward. The main task of our personnel policy is to create conditions in which every Polytechnic can realize their potential and feel part of a great common cause. In this work, it is important not only to notice and support professional achievements, but also to form a culture of respect and recognition, where the contribution of each person matters. And in this sense, the corporate award is one of the ways to express such an attitude towards Polytechnics,” says Maxim Pasholikov, Vice-Rector for Personnel and Youth Policy.
Look around, look at your colleagues, at people from other departments, and think about who among them, in your opinion, deserves to have their good name known throughout the Polytechnic? Whom should people learn about not only in your office but throughout the entire university?
“In every division of Polytech, there are people thanks to whom working together truly becomes pleasant: they know how to offer kind words, help when needed, teach something new, create comfort and a good mood — in one word, they make our lives brighter. What they do cannot be measured by numbers or reflected in reports, but it is from these daily actions that the special atmosphere of Polytech is formed. We are launching the ‘POLYTECH. PEOPLE’ award to talk about such wonderful people, to give colleagues the opportunity to thank them and to show that it is very important to us how we treat each other.” — said the head of the Public Relations Department, Marianna Dyakova.
The award consists of eight categories. Candidates can be nominated in each of them using the “My Polytech” systems. To do this, you need to log in to your personal account on the website spbstu.ru, in the “Announcements and Notices” section, POLYTECH Corporate Award. PEOPLE, and fill out the application form. After the application period ends, the selection committee will count whose names are mentioned most often in each category and compile shortlists for the public vote.

Terms and stages
From today until November 13 — Nomination of candidates through the “My Polytech” system.
From November 16 to November 20 — nomination selection, shortlists formation.
After November 20 — publication of shortlists with the names of the finalists.
From November 23 to December 5 — popular voting.
December 11 — the solemn award ceremony for the winners.
