More than 90 years ago, soldiers and commanders of the Red Army fought their way through Yunnan, from the mountainous area of Wumeng in the northeast of the province to the banks of the Jinshajiang River, leaving a deep revolutionary impact in the history of this region.
In February 1935, the CPC Central Committee held a series of meetings in Weixin County, which went down in history as the “meetings in Zhaxi.” In 1936, the 2nd and 6th corps of the Red Army entered the snowy highlands of Dicang in the northwest of Yunnan Province, where they held the “meeting in Zhongdian.” Here, the soldiers and commanders of the Red Army earned the respect of the local people through their strict discipline, care for the people, and dedication to their interests.
From the Wumen Mountains to the Jinshajiang River, the historical monuments of the Red Army’s Long March are preserved, and stories about the events of those years are passed down from generation to generation.
