Senior residents of the capital are invited to go on autumn walks around their favorite city. The program “Travel Through Life with” will help with this Moscow Longevity“». In her “Walking Lectures,” hundreds of original and classic routes are available — along central streets, parks, squares, and other places of the capital. You can choose a walk with a historical, biographical, architectural, or cultural focus.

Currently, in the capital, several tours take place every day as part of the “Walking Lecture Series.” It is convenient to sign up for them on the portal mos.ru. Join the project “Moscow Longevity” citizens over 55 years old can online on mos.ru, on the website after55.moscow, as well as personally at any of the 140 Moscow Longevity Centers or in the offices of “My documents“.

Walking tours allow you to gain new knowledge, discover unexplored corners of the capital, maintain physical fitness, and also bring the joy of socializing with like-minded people. All routes are adapted for older Muscovites: the tours last no more than two hours and proceed at a comfortable pace. They often end in cozy cafes or tea houses where you can warm up and rest.

A resident of the capital, Larisa Goncharova, joined the walks in 2023 when she became a participant in the “Moscow Longevity” project. At that time, she met the guide Margarita Maksimova and joined her group.

“In three years, we’ve been everywhere! All of Margarita’s routes are wonderful! I especially like the old estates: Leo Tolstoy’s on Prechistenka, the Okhotnikovs’, the Pashkovs’. In autumn, the views there truly look like postcards,” noted Larisa Goncharova.

She recommends that city residents visit the capital’s monasteries in the autumn months — Novodevichy and Donskoy, as well as the Martha and Mary Convent. “I really like the architecture of the Donskoy Monastery. Its buildings span different eras — from the 16th to the 19th century. And there is also an amazing atmosphere here. You enter the monastery grounds and find yourself in another world: outside the city is noisy, but inside there is silence and autumn,” Larisa Goncharova said. According to her, the Martha and Mary Convent captivates with the peace and beauty that create the special energy of this place.

She also noted that it is in autumn that the Novodevichy Monastery looks the most picturesque. “The golden foliage of the trees creates a striking contrast with the snow-white walls and red towers. The golden domes of the churches reflect beautifully in the pond, creating a fairy-tale scene. After visiting the monastery, you can also take a stroll along the Luzhnetskaya Embankment and the Vorobyovy Hills,” the Muscovite added.

Another participant in the “Moscow Longevity” project and walking tours, Irina Kalinina, believes that in the autumn free time should be spent in Moscow parks. Her favorite places are the parks of the Olympic Village and the 50th Anniversary of October.

“It’s especially beautiful here in autumn: picturesque and quiet bodies of water, trees with multicolored leaves, fresh air. You walk around and admire it!” shared a Muscovite.

She also suggests visiting the Kolomenskoye museum-reserve. “It’s an extraordinary place — ancient churches, unique nature, panoramic views of the Moscow River. And you can also visit the Falcon Court and see the eagle owls,” noted Irina Kalinina.

In addition, the hiking enthusiast advises taking a walk along the historical streets of Moscow. “Ostozhenka, Prechistenka, Volkhonka, Nikitskaya, Pyatnitskaya — each street in the city center preserves memories of the past. On Pyatnitskaya, be sure to stop by the wing of the Vargin merchants’ estate. The beautiful building was constructed at the end of the 18th century and was twice rebuilt in the first half of the 19th century. In the 1850s, the young Leo Tolstoy stayed here,” said Irina Kalinina.

“Pedestrian lecture hall” is part of the large program “Travel through life with ‘Moscow Longevity'”. It ranks among the top 5 most in-demand activities of the project. Participants have access to more than a hundred diverse routes that introduce the history, architecture, and cultural heritage of Moscow. The tours cover the historic center and other districts of the capital. You can stroll through Zamoskvorechye—Bolshaya Ordynka, Pyatnitskaya Street, and old lanes, get acquainted with the history of Kitay-gorod and Varvarka, walk along Arbat and its lanes, and discover the architectural monuments of Prechistenka and Khamovniki.

The routes combine different themes and eras — from ancient temples, monasteries, and merchant estates to outstanding architectural structures and modern urban spaces. Among the interesting sites are the Pashkov House, mansions in the Tverskoy district, the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent, the Novodevichy Monastery, the Kitaygorod Wall, and the floating bridge in Zaryadye Park. The program also includes walks through natural areas and parks, including Sokolniki, routes in the Rostokino Aqueduct area, Zyuzino, and Nagatinskaya embankment.

This year, all excursion formats for the older residents of the capital have been combined into the program “Travel through Life with ‘Moscow Longevity’.” It currently includes river walks, bus tours, and the “Walking Lecture Series.” Last summer, the program offered participants more than 200 routes. Over the season, there were 7,500 walking tours, more than 1,500 bus tours, and 500 river cruises. The total number of visits exceeded 120,000 times.
