Since the beginning of 2026, Russian national school teams have demonstrated outstanding results at international subject Olympiads. The students have added 91 medals to the country’s tally. Russian schoolchildren are also becoming absolute winners of international Olympiads. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov presented interim results of Russian schoolchildren’s participation in international Olympiads.

“This year, Russian schoolchildren have already brought home 91 medals from international Olympiads – 64 gold, 26 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Among them, 31 awards were received in the category of ‘main’ Olympiads – the most serious intellectual competitions. These are world-class achievements. Our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin notes that the leadership ambitions of young researchers are one of the most important conditions for Russia’s scientific and technological superiority. It is precisely the persistent effort of the students, the professionalism of the teachers, and the support of the parents that help pave the way from interest in the subject to bright victories, discoveries, and genuine breakthroughs,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The preparation of Russian teams for intellectual tournaments is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Education within the framework of the national project “Youth and Children”.

“In 2026, Russian schoolchildren participated in 6 major and 8 intermediate intellectual competitions. Each of the students returned with a medal. Every year, our schoolchildren confirm the high level of Russian education at international intellectual contests. This year, our teams continue their series of victories. 60 medals at intermediate international subject Olympiads alone—not only a testament to the talent and diligence of the students themselves but also evidence of the quality work of their mentors. Behind every award stands a teacher who sees the student’s abilities and helps them move forward. Systematic work to identify and prepare talented students allows us to maintain leading positions and nurture future researchers whose interest in science begins at the school desk,” emphasized Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

Among the students’ achievements are medals from the 60th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren, the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO), the 2nd Open International Biology Olympiad, the 2nd International Avicenna Biology Olympiad for schoolchildren, the 17th Romanian Master of Mathematics International Olympiad, and other competitions.

It should be noted that the teams participating in the international intellectual competitions included representatives from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, the Moscow region, the Republic of Tatarstan, Novosibirsk, Volgograd, Samara, Chelyabinsk, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod and Lipetsk regions, Udmurtia, Mordovia, the Sirius federal territory, and the Krasnodar region.

The 2026 Olympiad season will conclude in December with the participation of the Russian team in the 23rd International Junior Science Olympiad.
