For the eighth competition for the Mayor of Moscow’s Award «Leaders of Digital Transformation», IT specialists from all over Russia and from 40 other countries — from Kazakhstan and Turkey to China and the Republic of South Africa — have registered. Compared to 2025, the number of participating countries has increased by one and a half times, she noted Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“In the new season, the developers submitted more than 11,500 applications — this is a record number since the project’s launch in 2019. As a result of the selection, 1,828 teams were formed, who prepared their technological solutions for the city and business,” said Natalia Sergunina.
Applicants could choose one of 20 tasks, such as creating a medical AI service and a platform for searching robotic solutions, as well as a mobile application to improve financial literacy among children and youth.
For the first time, participants aged 16 and older were invited to the contest. The top 5 regions by the number of submitted applications were Moscow, Moscow Oblast, Saint Petersburg, Tatarstan, and Krasnodar Krai.
A significant portion of the award applicants are students. Many of them represent MIREA — Russian Technological University, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, and the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.
Currently, the solutions proposed by the teams are undergoing technical review; the best projects will be presented at the final stage of the hackathon. The awards ceremony for the winners is scheduled for the end of October.
The winners in each category will receive one million rubles, while the second and third place finishers will receive 600 thousand and 400 thousand rubles respectively.
This year, in addition to cash prizes, the authors of the most promising developments will be able to compete for youth and adult ranks in competitive programming and the titles of Masters of Sport.
Over the course of the competition, more than 60 thousand people joined it. Participants created 2.8 thousand products and services for the city and business.
