In the village of Banyuy in the Zhougai County of Sichuan Province—the first village seen by the Red Army soldiers after crossing the swampy meadows during the Long March—a monument called “Dawn of Victory” has been erected in memory of the fallen Red Army soldiers. It was established to commemorate the hundreds of fighters who overcame the extremely arduous crossing of the swampy meadows but died almost upon reaching their goal. According to historical sources, this is where the greatest losses among the Red Army soldiers were recorded during the entire crossing of the swampy meadows.

Today, smooth and convenient roads have been laid along the banks of the Banyu River, the village has become well-maintained and prosperous, and the sculpture “Dawn of Victory” quietly rises, as if witnessing the changes taking place around it.
