Agricultural Worker’s Day is an important event for student teams in Moscow. This summer, students of agricultural universities had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice and get acquainted with the work of real agricultural enterprises. You can join the student teams in the project’s community “Youth of Moscow”.

“For the youth of the capital, this is not just a job, it is a school of life and professional growth. In the summer, they harvested crops with their own hands, took care of animals, and participated in the production of products that later end up on Muscovites’ tables. We are proud that our youth is not afraid of challenges and chooses real work,” noted Margarita Savinkina, the head of the “Youth of Moscow” project.

Experience in agriculture

The guys were engaged in harvesting berries, including grapes, and fruits, as well as participating in dairy production. The future biotechnologist, a student of the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology — MBA named after K.I. Skryabin, Monolis Rumelidi, worked as a livestock breeder in the agricultural squad “VelVet.” Although this direction did not correspond to his main specialty, it helped him gain additional practical skills.

“I was able to apply in practice everything I learned at the academy for almost a year. The university provided knowledge, and the unit — skills. The result is what I love about my job — the opportunity to see healthy animals. The agricultural sector is more than promising for students. It is rapidly developing, and young specialists bring something new: modern methods, energy, a fresh perspective,” Monolis shared.

Practice in greenhouses and on farms

Capital students worked in the Leningrad and Ryazan regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory. For many, this experience becomes an important part of professional development: young specialists learned to work in a team, got acquainted with production processes, and practically mastered the specifics of caring for plants and animals.

Ekaterina Kochevatkina, a student of the Russian State Agrarian University — Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and a member of the agricultural squad “Kristall,” joined the “Chistoyagoda” project in the Leningrad region during the summer. Together with the squad, she picked raspberries in greenhouses.

According to Ekaterina, the work allowed her to practically get acquainted with the characteristics of different varieties, as well as with plant protection and treatment technologies.

A new direction — student Putin squads

One of the new directions for the capital’s student teams has become working at fish processing enterprises. Young people worked on projects of the Russian student teams: at the all-Russian student autumn campaign “Edge of the World” in the Kamchatka Krai and as part of the interregional autumn campaign team “Ostrog” in the Khabarovsk Krai. For them, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience and get acquainted with the specifics of work in different regions of the country.

A student of the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” and a member of the student Putin squad “Sea Beast,” Artem Makhortov, said that young specialists at fish processing enterprises are involved in almost all stages of production — from sorting, cleaning, and freezing to packaging fish. Members of his squad worked in various sections, including the caviar workshop and the hold.

For young people who are just choosing a professional path, this practice helps them better understand which field suits them.

Alisa Nimant, a student at the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology — MBA named after K.I. Skryabin, became a member of the consolidated student Putin squad “Fish”. She chose this direction because she grew up by the Baltic Sea and wanted to learn more about the process of fish harvesting and processing.
