Specialists Moscow city utilities complex they are completing the construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline in the west of the capital. Work on this technologically complex project began in 2025. The new gas pipeline will expand the capabilities of the city’s gas transportation system.

“The design was carried out taking into account the needs of current and prospective consumers, with a capacity reserve provided for connecting additional facilities in the future. The total length of the new gas pipeline will be almost 3.6 kilometers. At the moment, the facility is 90 percent complete,” noted Mikhail Vdovin, General Director of JSC Mosgaz.

The pipeline is being laid in an established urban environment, including at intersections with roads and utility networks. In the most challenging locations, specialists use the microtunneling method, which allows highly precise underground work without large-scale excavations. A total of 10 closed crossings have been completed.

After the gas pipeline is put into operation, its operating parameters will be monitored remotely. Modern shut-off devices divide the capital’s engineering networks into sectors that can be shut off from the central dispatch office of JSC “Mosgaz” within one and a half minutes if necessary. Such equipment ensures a high level of automation and system safety.

The construction of a new gas pipeline is part of the development of Moscow’s gas distribution system. The capital continues to update engineering communications to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to consumers, including large key enterprises. The new networks are designed for several decades of operation and are distinguished by reliability, strength, and resistance to environmental impact.

The Moscow urban utilities sector noted that the projects being implemented in the city for the modernization and improvement of the reliability of communal infrastructure align with the goals and objectives of the national project “Infrastructure for life”.
