The Museum of Moscow will host a theatrical and concert performance titled “Moscow Sorrows. Selected Scenes from the Country Life of Muscovites in the Early 20th Century.” The program is based on the stories of Vladimir Gilyarovsky, Anton Chekhov, Nadezhda Teffi, and the memories of contemporaries.

Viewers will learn how Moscow summer residents vacationed at the beginning of the last century and what amusing incidents happened to them. The play is also based on humorous publications from the magazines “Budilnik,” “Strekoza,” and “Sverchok.” The authors of the program are Lyudmila and Alexander Leontyev.

Literary stories will complement musical works performed by the balalaika sextet of the N.P. Osipov Orchestra under the direction of Igor Senin. Russian folk melodies, dance music, and old urban romances will be played, presented by soloist Andrey Tselkovsky (bass). Dramatic reading — Alexander Leontyev.
