The “Museum of Moscow” invites you on a tour of the Sanduny Baths — one of the most famous and legendary public spaces in the capital. Since its opening in 1808, Sanduny has been considered the best baths in Moscow, impressing contemporaries with its level of comfort, engineering solutions, and luxurious interiors.
During the tour, participants will visit the modern Sandunovsky complex, which in the past occupied almost half a block and included seven buildings and an income house on Neglinnaya Street.
The tour guide will talk about the bathing traditions, famous visitors, and films shot in the interiors of Sanduny. Guests will see the highest men’s rank, including the Gothic and Turkish halls, as well as the famous Pompeian hall with a pool. Participants will learn about the architectural features of the complex and their functional purposes, the location of the laundry and the private power station, “numbered baths” for special clients, fashion boutiques, luxury apartments, and the restaurant.
The guide is Larisa Skrypnik, a historian, expert on Moscow, and research associate at the “Museum of Moscow.”
The meeting place is inside the pavilion of Kuznetsky Most metro station, near the escalator exit (exit to Rozhdestvenka street).
To attend the tour, you also need to purchase an admission ticket to the Sandunov baths on site.
