Capital Department of Culture has completed the first phase of repair work on the historic building of the Moscow Operetta Theatre. The repair work began in August 2026. The previous major overhaul of the historic building was carried out in the 1970s.

“As part of the first stage, the roof and windows of the building were replaced, the facades were repaired, and more than a dozen decorative elements were restored. Currently, the theater’s entrance group is being updated: 13 LED media screens will be installed here. In 2027, work is planned to modernize the ventilation system in the auditorium and the comprehensive security system,” said the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Culture.

Alexey Fursin.

This season, viewers will see a video facade with screens displaying the theater’s playbills and event posters. A glass “crown” and a digital “belt” will be placed on the outer part of the canopy. The canopy structure is being created and installed in stages. First, the marking and installation of supporting metal structures are carried out, then advertising signs and lighting elements are installed. Next, the canopy is clad with composite panels. The work concludes with the connection of the roof’s electric heating, LED ceiling lighting, and LED screens.

The facade of the building on Bolshaya Dmitrovka will remain peach-colored. The pistachio color of the building on Kuznetsky Most is also decided to be preserved. It is planned that by 2028, the theatrical and technological equipment will be fully modernized.
