Moscow, April 16 /TASS/ — Six joint exercises of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be held in 2026. Three of them are planned on the territory of Russia, two — on the territory of Belarus, and one — on the territory of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov following the meeting of the CSTO Military Committee.
According to him, the Military Committee of the CSTO has defined steps to increase military potential in the interest of regional security.
“At the session, the unfolding military-political situation in the region of the CSTO collective security was thoroughly discussed, and practical steps were determined to enhance the military potential of the organization in the interest of ensuring regional stability,” said V. Gerasimov.
The head of the Russian General Staff noted that the main focus was made on improving the air defense of the collective aviation forces and the training of military personnel of the CSTO.
