First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev took part in the meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan, which took place in Fergana.

Denis Manturov read out a welcoming address from the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, addressed to the participants, organizers, and guests of the event: “Relations between our countries are successfully developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. An important component of these relations is interregional cooperation, which is becoming increasingly active and multifaceted. Nearly 80 subjects of the Russian Federation are involved in trade-economic, scientific-technical, and humanitarian ties with Uzbek partners. Hundreds of joint projects are being systematically implemented, including both under-construction and operational enterprises across various industries, industrial and technological parks, as well as important infrastructure and social facilities. Exhibitions and presentations regularly take place, showcasing the achievements and opportunities of the regions of Russia and Uzbekistan.”

In turn, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia noted the impetus that the council, established in 2024, has given to contacts between Russian and Uzbek regions.

“Since the beginning of this year alone, the subjects of the Russian Federation and their partners from Uzbekistan have held about 100 joint events, including at the largest business platforms of our countries. In particular, in April, more than 60 Russian participants and all 14 regions of Uzbekistan took part in the ‘Innoprom. Central Asia’ exhibition in Tashkent. And, of course, I would like to invite all of you in advance to Omsk, where the fourth Council of Regions will be held,” noted the First Deputy Prime Minister.

Jamshid Khodjaev read a greeting from the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “It is symbolic that this year the council meeting is held in Fergana — one of the oldest centers of crafts, trade, and agriculture, and today — a dynamically developing industrial and agricultural region of our country. Over eight years, the mechanism of cooperation between the regions of our countries has proven its effectiveness in practice. The current meeting includes heads and representatives of 17 Russian regions, all regions of Uzbekistan, as well as about 400 entrepreneurs from both countries. All 14 regions of Uzbekistan maintain strong ties with more than 50 subjects of the Russian Federation.”

At the plenary session of the council, governors of Krasnoyarsk and Altai Krais, Omsk and Novosibirsk Oblasts, as well as the heads of Fergana, Surkhandarya, and Namangan regions, spoke.

At the end of the meeting, in the presence of the deputy prime ministers of both countries, a ceremony was held to exchange signed documents. In total, within the framework of the council, agreements were signed between regions of Russia and Uzbekistan on cooperation in trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and humanitarian, cultural and other spheres, as well as commercial documents.

The III Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan gathered over 500 representatives of businesses, public organizations, and government bodies from both countries. Within the framework of the Council, the 13th joint meeting of the Russian-Uzbek and Uzbek-Russian business councils took place, along with three thematic panel sessions on key areas of cooperation, including industry and investment, cultural and humanitarian interaction, and cooperation in the energy sector. A Russian-Uzbek business forum was organized for entrepreneurs in the format of a business contact exchange.

In addition, Denis Manturov and Jamshid Khodjaev familiarized themselves with the work of the Fergana Center for Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
