For its 35th anniversary, the Theater of Music and Poetry is launching a series of film screenings, which will showcase video recordings of performances from past years.

In December, Yuli Kim turns 90, so the screenings open with the play “Seven Notebooks of the Russian Literature Teacher Yuli Kim, Filled by Him Personally.”

This one-man show was directed by Oleg Kudryashov for Elena Kamburova. Before the performance, there will be a meeting with the actor Oleg Sinkin, who will talk about how the show was created, how the collaboration with Yuliy Kim took place, and how the theater’s repertoire was formed in its early years.

The play “Seven Notebooks of the Teacher of Russian Literature Yuli Kim, Filled Out by His Own Hand” tells about the world of Yuli Kim’s songs — meanwhile, Elena Kamburova transforms into numerous characters inhabiting the playful, theatrical world of the songs — sometimes a Clown, sometimes Petrushka, sometimes Assol, a languid lady, and even Ivan the Fool. The play consists of seven parts (notebooks), and the images of school, lesson, and teacher become recurring — Yuli Kim once worked as a literature teacher in an ordinary school.

The production also featured: Oleg Sinkin (keyboards), Alexander Marchenko (guitar, recorder, trombone), Vyacheslav Golikov (guitar, bass guitar), Vyacheslav Derenchuk (violin, mandolin), Roman Gegart (percussion, harmonica).

Duration — 2 hours.
