The tunnel boring machine (TBM) “Natali” continues boring the right running tunnel on the section from “Vatutinki” station to “Kedrovaya” station of the Troitskaya Metro line. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.

“The tunneling between the future stations ‘Vatutinki’ and ‘Kedrovaya’ of the Troitsk line of the metro began in May. Currently, the tunnel boring machine ‘Natali’ has passed 987 meters out of the planned 2.55 kilometers. The metro builders are working in difficult engineering and geological conditions. To protect the tunnel from possible karst process effects, the drillers use high-precision reinforced concrete lining with an additional internal metal shell. On the path of the shield is Kaluzhskoye Highway, under which the TBM will pass at the final stage. Next year, we will start tunneling the left tunnel between these stations,” said Vladimir Efimov.

According to the schedule, the “Natali” complex has planned technical stops for inspection and replacement of the cutting tool. It has already made one of these stops and is now continuing work.

The future “Vatutinki” station of the second section of the Troitskaya metro line will be located near the village of the same name, next to the “Vatutinki Park” residential complex, in the area of the intersection of Kaluzhskoe Highway and Slavsky Avenue. Currently, the construction site has completed the installation of the diaphragm wall—a retaining structure for the excavation pit. Specialists are carrying out soil excavation, with more than 80 percent of the work completed. The installation of pit supports continues, their readiness exceeds 60 percent. The station will have two above-ground vestibules, which will be connected to the platform with escalators for passenger convenience.

The Kedrovaya station will appear near the Novye Vatutinki residential complex, at the intersection of Kaluzhskoye Highway and 1st Novovatutinskaya Street. Currently, work is underway at the construction site to build the pilot shaft and retaining structures.

“The Troitskaya line will become one of the longest radii of the Moscow metro, as well as the backbone of the transport framework for the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts. Thanks to it, the busy stations of the Sokolnicheskaya, Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya, and Butovskaya lines will be relieved by 20 percent. Today, almost 100,000 passengers use the emerald line daily. After its full launch, this figure will reach 350,000 people, and transport accessibility will improve for more than 1.2 million residents of the capital,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.

Maxim Liksutov.

Head of the Moscow Department of Transport and Engineering Infrastructure Construction Vasily Desyatkov he said that the excavation of the running tunnels on the new section of the Troitskaya metro line from the Novomoskovskaya station to Troitsk is being carried out by six-meter diameter TBMs. In addition to the excavation from the Vatutinki station to Kedrovaya, the builders are constructing the right tunnel between the Novomoskovskaya and Sosenki stations; the left tunnel on this section is already completed.

The southern section of the Troitsk metro line will run along the Kaluzhskoye highway from Kommunarka to Troitsk. It will include six stations: “Vatutinki,” “Sosenki,” “Rakitki,” “Desna,” “Kedrovaya,” and “Troitsk.”

Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin congratulated the workers and veterans on Metro Builders’ Day. In 2026, the Moscow Metro construction received its 95th anniversary. Especially for this date, a publication was posted on the mos.ru portal landing page, dedicated to the domestic subway construction industry.

Moscow is one of the leaders among regions in terms of construction volumes. From 2011 to 2026, more than 270 kilometers of new lines were built and reconstructed, and 130 metro stations were opened, including Moscow Central ring and The Large Circle Line. The construction of transport facilities in the capital corresponds to the goals and initiatives of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
