Cotonou, April 16 /Xinhua/ — The State Minister of Economy and Finance of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, won the first round of the presidential elections held in the country, scoring 94.27 percent of valid votes, while his opponent — former Minister of Culture Paul Unkpé, belonging to the moderate opposition — received 5.73 percent. This is evidenced by the preliminary voting results announced on Thursday by the Constitutional Court of Benin, which is the highest state authority for resolving electoral disputes.
