Bishkek, April 16 /Xin Hua/ — An international scientific conference “Global Initiative for the Development and Modernization of Central Asia” took place on Thursday in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. At the event, jointly organized by the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev and Lanzhou University, representatives from China and other countries discussed Chinese initiatives and the positive role of the SCO in the process of modernizing Central Asia.
Advisor to the President of Kyrgyzstan Marat Imankulov noted that today the meaning of sustainable development paths, modernization of the national economy, and strengthening of regional cooperation is gaining special significance for the countries of Central Asia. According to him, the global development initiative opens new opportunities for the countries of the region and creates platforms for consolidating efforts in such key areas as poverty reduction, infrastructure construction, digitalization, green economy, and human capital development.
The counselor-envoy of the PRC Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, Li Hua, stated that thanks to high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road” initiative, China and Central Asian countries are successfully implementing large-scale projects, accelerating the development of interconnectedness, and forming a more effective and deeply integrated cooperation model. “China, relying on high-quality development and high-level openness, will continue to provide Central Asian countries with new opportunities and together with them advance along the broad path of joint modernization,” the Chinese diplomat promised.
Senior lecturer of the department “International Relations and Law” of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Chinara Kashkaraeva, called the “Belt and Road” initiative one of the most important and most open initiatives in the world. She is convinced that this initiative benefits Kyrgyzstan and meets its interests.
Ilhom Uralov, head of the Department of International Relations and Public Relations at the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noted the special significance of the “China – Central Asia” mechanism in the modern conditions of the transformation of the world economy and the strengthening of regionalization. According to him, cooperation between China and the countries of the region within the framework of the mechanism is already yielding significant economic results and is gradually acquiring a systemic character.”When the strategic balance is preserved and a pragmatic approach is maintained, this format can become one of the key factors for the sustainable development of both Uzbekistan and the entire Central Asian region,” he noted.
Professor of the Institute of Politics and International Relations at Lanzhou University, Ziyao Yiqian, emphasized that concepts based on the “China-Central Asia belt” fully align with the initiative “Belt and Road,” the initiative for global development, and the concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, laying the logical foundation for cooperation between China and Central Asia. “China has never aimed at modernization alone, but has made efforts towards collective development and cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis with all countries,” he added.
