The State University of Management participated in the celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China, which began on October 1, 1949.
The event dedicated to this occasion took place on September 29 at the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and was led by the institute’s director, Kirill Babaev. The State University of Management was represented by the head of the educational program “International Manufacturing Business,” Fanis Sharipov.
As always, Ambassador of China to Russia Zhang Hanhui delivered an excellent report to the assembled audience. He noted the highest level of development of Russian-Chinese relations, including a new record in trade turnover between our countries, which over the eight months of this year amounted to more than $185 billion, 25% more than last year.
On behalf of the Russian side, Andrey Denisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of Russia, a diplomat who previously served as Russia’s Ambassador to China, delivered a response speech. He presented to those gathered a brief history and the most significant milestones of Russian-Chinese relations over 77 years.
A representative of the people’s Russian-Chinese diplomacy, Galina Kulikova, wished the gathered student youth success in their profession in the field of business cooperation between Russia and China, emphasizing that such meetings allow students to communicate live with those who are currently developing Russian-Chinese cooperation in politics, science, and culture.
A few days earlier, the GSOM delegation participated in a ceremonial reception held by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moscow in honor of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of Russian-Chinese diplomatic relations.
Part of the joint program was also a visit organized by the Embassy for a delegation of Russian universities to China, which took place in September. During the trip, GUU signed a memorandum of cooperation with Shaanxi Normal University and agreed on cooperation with four more universities in China.
The founding of the People’s Republic of China was solemnly proclaimed by Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949, at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. On December 2 of the same year, the government of the PRC declared October 1 a national holiday.
