As part of the regional capital repair program, specialists from the capital urban infrastructure complex By the end of 2026, the renovation of 179 residential buildings in the west of Moscow will be completed. Their engineering systems will be replaced, roofs repaired, and entrance groups updated. Special attention will be paid to the facades: specialists have selected an individual color scheme for each building to help preserve the historical appearance of the districts of the Western Administrative Okrug (WAO).

The longest house

One of the longest buildings undergoing major renovations this year is located on Filevsky Boulevard (building 17) in the Filevsky Park district. The 12-story building with 12 entrances was built in 1982 according to a standard design.

Its facade and roof are being renovated. Initially, the walls of the house were covered with decorative tiles, which over years of use have lost their color and partially deteriorated.

For the restoration of such facades, the capital’s Capital Repair Fund uses technology involving polymer-cement mixtures and reinforcing meshes. First, specialists washed the exposed surfaces, tapped them, and removed the detached tiles. Then they applied plaster-adhesive and reinforcing compounds, decorative plaster, and a special vapor-permeable paint coating. The panel joints were sealed.

For the facade, they chose shades of “rich yellow bamboo,” “yellow mirabelle,” and “signal white.” In addition, the craftsmen are renovating the entrances, repairing the slopes, and installing new asphalt concrete blind areas.

The oldest building

The oldest building in the district, which is undergoing major renovations this year, is located in the Filevsky Park area at Bagrationovsky Drive, building 1, structure 1. The six-story residential building was constructed in 1937 according to an individual design in the neoclassical style. The building has an L-shaped form. On the facades facing the street, the two lower floors are highlighted with textured rustication with keystones, window casings, and are separated from the upper part by an inter-floor cornice. The fifth floor is separated from the sixth by a cornice with modillions. A crowning cornice runs along the perimeter of the building.

The facade and roof are being renovated here, and the electrical system is being replaced. A special project for carrying out the work was developed to preserve the architectural appearance of the building, and domestic materials and technologies were selected taking into account the characteristics of the building.

The restoration of the facade began with cleaning the surfaces from dirt and peeling sections of the plaster layer. Damp spots were treated with antifungal and antiseptic agents. Currently, specialists are renewing the plaster layer and architectural decor of the exterior walls. After the work is completed, the facade will be painted in the historical colors “natural beige rice” and “creamy white.”

The roof covering is being renewed; the battens and rafters, which have significantly worn out, are being replaced. At the completion of the major repairs, the entrances and the plinth will be restored.

The tallest building

The tallest building undergoing major renovations in the Western Administrative Okrug in 2026 is located in the Fili-Davydkovo district at 5 Davydkovskaya Street. The 25-story building was constructed in 1984.

The facades of the house are made of panels clad with small-sized ceramic tiles. The first floor and the columns at the level of the first and second floors are also finished with ceramic tiles.

Specialists are currently renovating the facade. The work began with cleaning the surfaces and panel joints — old elements and debris were removed from them. The areas covered with decorative tiles were washed, and detached sections were removed. Then plaster-adhesive and reinforcing compounds, decorative plaster, and a vapor-permeable paint coating were applied. The panel joints were sealed.

For the facade, the shades “black-gray,” “gray window,” and “signal white” were chosen. Specialists are also replacing the stained glass glazing in common areas. After the main work is completed, the craftsmen will repair the entrances, balconies, and the plinth part of the building.
