The state corporation Rostec is ready to integrate into production chains and help scientists implement developments in robotics and automation into real production. This was stated by Elena Druzhinina, Managing Director for Science and Business Cooperation at Rostec, during the strategic session “Automation and Robotics – the Foundation of Industrial Growth.”
The event organized by the Corporation took place at the State University of Management with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, JSC “RT-Techpriemka,” and SUM on September 28.
The central topic of discussion was the development of “dark factories” — enterprises where robots and digital systems take over key processes: from assembly to quality control, minimizing human involvement.
According to Elena Druzhinina, “Automation and robotics are primarily needed where there is mass production, high repeatability of operations, and a shortage of personnel: aircraft manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, metalworking, electronics, and warehouse logistics.”
At the same time, she emphasized that “technologies do not implement themselves – this requires joint work of scientists, manufacturers, and customers. Rostec is ready to act as a linking element: to integrate into cooperative chains, help form them, and bring developments from the idea stage to implementation in actual production.”
How science can assist industry in this direction and the advantages of such cooperation were explained by the rector of GUU, Vladimir Stroev. He began his story from the origins, drawing attention to the continuity of GUU’s traditions: the university traces its history back to the Alexander Commercial School, founded in 1880, which produced professional merchants, including successful entrepreneurs like Savva Morozov.
“Today, as in the past 100 years, we prepare the best managerial personnel for enterprises in various industries: energy, mechanical engineering, construction, and other fields. Graduates of the university’s industry-specific departments are people with serious technical knowledge. And for implementing new forms of production, what is precisely needed are not people with general knowledge, but specialized managers,” emphasized the rector of the State University of Management.
The rector of Kovrov State Technological University, Alexey Egorov, drew attention to the importance of monitoring modern practices and technologies for the implementation of robotization in order not to lag behind competing countries in this field. “If we are solving the tasks of achieving technological sovereignty, then we must have access to the most modern technologies, and not reinvent the wheel,” said Alexey Egorov.
He was supported by Alexander Lopota, director and chief designer of the Central Research and Development Institute of Robotics and Technical Cybernetics. He also expressed the opinion that “currently, there are practically no system integrators in Russia ready to implement automated and robotic lines into production and deliver industrial facilities on a turnkey basis.”
The problem needs to be addressed right now. “In 20-30 years, due to the demographic crisis, the situation will worsen even more, and robotization will allow compensating for the staff shortage,” said Alexander Lopota.
In turn, the CEO of JSC “RT-Techpriemka” Vladlen Shorin introduced the audience to the needs of industrial companies today and explained how automation and robotics processes are established using the example of the presented enterprises. Details of the development of this field were shared by Yuri Kuznetsov, acting director of the machine tool and heavy engineering department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Roman Trishin, Minister of Digital Development of the Kaluga region.
Summing up the strategic session, the participants agreed that the task of automating and robotizing the country’s industry cannot be addressed separately from innovation. It is necessary to introduce new technologies before implementing robotization and to initiate these processes not in old, but in modernized production facilities, relying on the latest developments.
On the same day, in the presence of guests, the ceremonial opening of the unique Center for Comprehensive Engineering and Intelligent Robotics of Production Systems at the State University of Management took place, which will be engaged in the full cycle of creating relevant technical solutions from idea to practical testing.
The strategic session continued on September 29 with the youth segment, during which researchers met with a well-known industry expert, discussed successful projects of student design bureaus, and established cooperation for joint work.
