Work to update public transportation continues throughout Russia. Including in the Volga Federal District, new vehicles are being put into service, increasing the comfort and safety of trips for residents of the district’s regions. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“Updating public transport is a task set by the President, and we are systematically solving it throughout the country. The Volga Federal District is one of the most densely populated and dynamically developing regions. Millions of people live here, for whom quality, modern, and safe public transport is very important. Since the beginning of the year, the VFD has received 499 units of equipment: 412 buses, 77 trams, and 10 trolleybuses. The work continues. For this purpose, within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” a whole set of support mechanisms is involved, which the regions actively use,” noted Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the largest number of vehicles were received by Kirov Oblast (103), Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (87), Saratov Oblast (58), the Udmurt Republic (46), and the Chuvash Republic (46).
Among the programs used for the purchase of new public transport are direct subsidies from the federal budget and subsidized concessional leasing through JSC “GTLK” under the Ministry of Transport, leasing of wheeled vehicles via GTLK under the Ministry of Industry and Trade program, the mechanism of infrastructure loans from the Ministry of Construction, operated by the Territorial Development Fund, as well as the write-off of two-thirds of the debt on budget loans through the Ministry of Finance.
