On Proletarsky Prospekt in the south of the capital, specialists urban economy complex the asphalt surface was repaired. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petr Biryukov.
“Special attention is paid to maintaining the capital’s roads in a standard condition. Every year, as part of preparations for the autumn-winter period, we carry out activities to renew the asphalt concrete pavement. This year, asphalt repairs were carried out on Proletarsky Avenue — one of the major highways in the Southern Administrative District, passing through the Moscowrechie-Saburovo and Tsaritsyno districts. On a section longer than two kilometers, about 80 thousand square meters of the road surface were renewed,” noted Petr Biryukov.
Previously, repairs on this section were carried out in 2021.
One of the reasons for road repairs is rutting, which forms due to intense vehicular traffic. It causes discomfort to drivers and can negatively affect road safety; therefore, the capital regularly checks the condition of highway surfaces, monitors warranty expiration, and carries out timely replacements.
The work is carried out mainly at night, when traffic is lighter, in several stages. First, specialists mill the existing surface, then repair inspection manholes and storm drain grates, after which new asphalt is laid. In the final stage, road markings are applied.
Modern technologies are used for laying asphalt, and asphalt concrete mixtures produced at city-owned plants are utilized.
