RUDN University students conquer the sports arenas of the country and continent

This spring turned out to be hot for the Russian People’s Friendship University team. Our athletes proved that pairs can equally successfully combine conquering podiums — from rowing machines to the athletic tracks of Tula and Krasnoyarsk. The main victories of the past weeks were gathered in one note.

Rowing Indoor: Team Triumph and Medals of the Winter Season Final

At the Winter Cup of Moscow student sports games (MSSI) in indoor rowing(competitions are held in a room with a simulator) student RUDNAlexander Svechnikovbecame the best in the 500-meter sprint in the 2nd stage of the XXXVIII ISSI. In the 8×250 meter relay, the men’s team also wonfirstplace, and a female one —bronze.

In the Final of the Winter Season in Saint PetersburgThe struggle between athletes and teams sometimes goes down to tenths of a second. But even here, RUDN athletes showed high results.

But behind dry numbers of results stand living emotions. Athletes-rowers Anna and Arseniy shared their love for their sport, which, in their opinion, is undeservedly overlooked.

“The most delectable piece in rowing-indoor is relays. It’s a real show, fantastic, full of emotions. Very few people know about academic rowing, yet it is one of the healthiest sports physiologically,” —Arseniy Sarychev.

“Rowing is a beautiful and romantic type of sport. The best memories are when the eight of us sit in one boat, and the training sessions take place at dawn and sunset,” —Anna Nikulina.
