Students, professionals, and schoolchildren from around the world can try their hand at solving game challenges and complex scientific problems of modern cryptography. Every year, more than 1000 people from at least 45 countries participate in the olympiad.
The Olympiad is held in English in two independent remote rounds. The individual round is on October 11, and the team round is from October 12 to 19. Registration is already open on the Olympiad website.
NSUCRYPTO is the only international cryptography olympiad that includes both educational problems and unsolved scientific issues. The purpose of the olympiad is to attract young researchers to the problems of modern cryptography. After each olympiad, scientific articles analyzing the problems posed to participants are published, including unsolved ones that require separate scientific study. Winners and prize-winners of the olympiad are awarded prizes.
– Preparation for the olympiad is conducted based on the in-person satellite event – the Summer School “Cryptography and Information Security,” which we hold in different cities across Russia. The Summer School brings together hundreds of participants and teachers from many cities., – comments the Chairman of the Olympiad Program Committee, Associate Professor of NSU, Natalya Tokareva.
NSUCRYPTO is the only Olympiad from Russia (and one of seventeen worldwide) that is taken into account in the university rankings when analyzing students’ victories in international Olympiads across various fields of science. The ranking is prepared with the support of the Russian Union of Rectors. Students’ wins at NSUCRYPTO are also considered in the RAEX-100 university rankings.
The organizers and partners of the Olympiad are the Cryptographic Center (Novosibirsk), Novosibirsk State University, the companies “Kryptonit”, “Crypto-PRO”, “Aktiv”, the University of Leuven (Belgium), Southern Federal University, Khakademiya, Belarusian State University, Tomsk State University, and the company “Enseukripto-lab”.
