Moscow — The modern tram network continues to develop in the capital: the launch of the second Moscow tram ring T2 has provided new transport connections for more than 2 million city residents.

Route T2 runs from the Chertanovskaya metro station to the Novogireevo MCC station. The new diameter connects the south and east of Moscow through the central part of the city, providing convenient communication for residents of 13 districts. The line runs through the territory of five administrative districts and connects key attraction points — office centers, educational institutions, medical organizations, as well as popular places for recreation and leisure.
The diameter T2 tram has become an important part of the capital’s transport framework and has significantly expanded the possibilities for travel without transfers.
T2 in figures:
- The route passes next to 31 metro stations, MCC, MCD, and a railway line, as well as four railway stations;
- connects the south and east of the city through the center, covering 13 districts;
- includes 79 stops throughout the entire length of the line.
“Following the directive of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to develop the tram network as a street-level ground metro. The launch of diameter T2 provided new transport connections for over 2 million Muscovites and from the first day of operation demonstrated its relevance and demand. Now residents can cross the city on a modern tram without transfers. For many, travel time has significantly decreased. For example, students of Bauman Moscow State Technical University now reach Chistyye Prudy 2.5 times faster — in just 15 minutes instead of 35.””This is a qualitatively new level of urban travel comfort,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov.
The development of tram infrastructure remains one of the priority directions of the city’s transport policy and is aimed at improving the quality of life for Muscovites.
