Washington, April 15 /Sin Hua/ — The war between the United States and Israel against Iran is “very close to completion.” This was stated on Wednesday morning by US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with the Fox Business channel, D. Trump also indicated that American strikes will continue as long as necessary to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. At the same time, he again threatened strikes on civilian infrastructure.
“We could have taken out all the bridges in an hour. We could have taken out all the power plants in an hour,” said the American president. “But we are not going to do that.”
Washington and Tehran are expected to resume negotiations as early as April 16, after the talks held in Pakistan on April 11 reached a deadlock. American media reported that the parties have reached a “principal agreement” to extend the two-week truce, which expires on April 22, in order to allow more time for diplomatic efforts.
However, as a senior American official told CNN, the White House has not yet officially agreed to extend the ceasefire.
“Contacts between the USA and Iran to conclude a deal are ongoing,” he noted. -0-
