The project “Play Moscow” is launching a new route-mission for family outings with children — “Wake Up the Movie Machine.” It takes place in the largest film park in Europe, “Moskino,” which is under the jurisdiction of the capital Department of Culture. Parents and children can get a paper map with tasks at tourist centers “Moscow” and other places.
For the first time, the city quest is dedicated not to landmarks, but to the exploration of cinematographic techniques, including editing and modern filming technologies.
The route passes through the territory of the MosKino film park and includes the sets ‘Cowboy Town’ and ‘Moscow of the 1940s’, as well as the main arch, ‘Fair Square’, ‘Fairy Tale Park’, and the ‘Gonzaga Theater’. Participants will be able to use an audio guide available via a QR code.
The goal of the quest is to bring the mysterious film machine to life by assembling fragments of a real movie — from a close-up and a chase scene to lighting setup and the command “Quiet on the set, rolling!”.
The main directors are the children, and the parents and other close ones are members of the film crew. In the sets, they will shoot film scenes, resulting in each family having their own video story.
In addition, the paper map with completed tasks and reward stickers can be exchanged for a gift at the box office of the Moskino film park and at the Moscow tourist centers.
“Wake up the movie machine” is already the 11th route of the project “Play for Moscow”, which started operating in 2023. Family quests take place across the historic center of Moscow (“Secrets of the Green Planet”), favorite parks (“To the Shores of the Lunar Seas”), Northern River Terminal (“Port of Five Seas. The Legend of the Anchor”), to museums (“Constellation of Ciphers”), places of military glory (“The Hero’s Journey”) and the creativity of famous figures (“Secrets of Lukomorye”). Over three years, more than 1.8 million city residents and tourists with children have participated in them.
Nine missions of the “Play Moscow” project are also available in Russpass game with augmented reality. Users catch cartoon Moskvarks using their smartphones, exchanging them for museum tickets for 10 rubles.
New tourist routes within the framework of the “Play in Moscow” project are emerging thanks to the initiative “Tourist Attractiveness of the Country” of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”, which contributes to the development of family tourism.
