“Moscow Checkup” allows residents of the capital to learn about health risks and pre-risks, as well as to identify factors of accelerated aging. According to the results of completing all stages of the program, 10 percent of participants had a biological age five or more years higher than their passport age. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“We want Muscovites to be able to consciously manage their age: to understand how the body changes, what influences these changes, and which habits help maintain health. This is the essence of the Moscow philosophy of healthy longevity — to provide people with knowledge, tools, and opportunities so that at any age they can affect the quality and duration of their lives. One of these tools is the ‘Moscow Checkup.’ It helps to learn more about health risks and even pre-risks. Since its launch, about 1.5 million Muscovites have joined the program, and 700 thousand have already completed the first stage. The system also helps determine biological age. In case of deviation from the passport age, an additional program with a more in-depth set of tests is launched. It makes it possible to identify the causes and scenarios of accelerated aging in order to influence them and prevent the development of negative processes. According to the results of all stages of the ‘Moscow Checkup,’ every 10th participant’s biological age turned out to be five or more years higher than their passport age,” Anastasia Rakova said.
Biological age is determined by a set of medical indicators that reflect the state of the body. Such an assessment allows planning further prevention steps and offering the participant individual recommendations.
Accelerated aging of the body occurs in several types. Immuno-inflammatory aging is associated with hidden, silent inflammation. It can occur without a high temperature, gradually damaging tissues and accelerating aging processes.
The metabolic type reflects the characteristics of energy acquisition and utilization, the processing of fats and carbohydrates, as well as the elimination of metabolic products. The oxidative, or vascular, type is associated with oxidative stress and the condition of the cardiovascular system, including risks of atherosclerosis and thrombosis.
Another type of aging is caused by metabolic disorders and obesity: it is characterized by excessive accumulation of fat mass and changes in body composition. In addition, sarcopenia and musculoskeletal impairments may be observed, which are associated with loss of muscle mass and strength, limited mobility, and an increased risk of falls, while reduced bone strength raises the likelihood of fractures.
The “Moscow Checkup” program combines medical examinations, the federal healthy longevity program, and the expanded Moscow examination package into a single personalized prevention route.
The first stage of the check-up is carried out remotely. In the mobile application “EMIAS.INFO,” the user fills out a questionnaire about their well-being and lifestyle, and if necessary, additional surveys. It is also possible to enter the results of functional tests and body composition data, using smart scales or bioimpedance devices available at city locations.
After filling out the form, the system matches the data with information from the electronic medical record, taking into account previously completed tests and identified risk factors. Based on this, an individual list of necessary analyses and examinations is automatically generated. This is not a template solution, but an extended package tailored to the specific patient.
You can sign up for tests online in the “EMIAS.INFO” app, and take them at the city polyclinic. As a result, the participant receives personal recommendations, and if deviations are identified — a referral for additional consultation and in-depth diagnostics. The program is available to all adult Muscovites registered with city polyclinics.
You can check your health and learn your medical indicators during an ordinary walk. Interactive health pavilions, which have become part of the project, are operating on Nikitsky Boulevard, Trubnaya Square, and VDNH. “Summer in Moscow”. Here, anyone interested can undergo an express diagnostic in 15–20 minutes using modern equipment with artificial intelligence technologies, use neurofitness stations and simulators to assess reaction and grip strength, and also learn from multifunctional center staff how to start a check-up.
It was possible to get acquainted with the “Moscow Checkup” as part of the city project “Night at the Clinic.” Over two evenings, about 20 thousand people.
Moscow has been engaged in digitizing its healthcare system for over 10 years. The foundation of this process has been a unified digital platform, which is being developed by the city Department of Health and Department of Information Technology. The system they created reflects the philosophy of healthy longevity: thanks to digital solutions, doctors can continuously manage the patient from the first complaint and diagnosis to treatment, evaluation of its results, and subsequent follow-up. Such work aligns with the objectives of the national project “Long and active life”.
