From the beginning of 2026, the resource center “Mosvolunteer” held 96 free training events, attended by more than 4,100 people. Beginners and experienced volunteers, educators, and heads of associations can master the basic skills of an urban assistant, learn to manage teams, understand social project design and the preparation of city events. Training is conducted both in person and online.
“Training helps not only to get acquainted with volunteering but also to confidently apply the acquired knowledge in practice. The formats are designed for different levels of participant preparation — from those who are just choosing their first good deed to team leaders, trainers, and organizers of volunteer associations. They master team interaction, communication, planning, and other skills, which they then use during city events and in their own projects,” said Alexander Levit, director of the Mosvolonter resource center.
From novice to team leader
The educational programs of the resource center allow you to build your own path in volunteering. Beginners will find the course suitable “Get Involved!”, where they introduce the basics and principles of assistance. The next session will take place on September 19.
A program has been developed for those ready to coordinate other volunteers “Manage”. Participants develop leadership competencies and learn to support teams at events of varying scale.
Experienced volunteers can undergo trainer training “Train”, which will take place from October 4 to 31. After training, they will be able to conduct classes independently. Professional skills can also be improved at an intensive course for trainers informal education.
An intensive course has been created for volunteer activity organizers “Five keys”. It is dedicated to the main stages of interaction with volunteers: attraction, training, support, motivation, and encouragement of volunteers.
Separate educational formats are provided for schools, colleges, universities, and corporate teams. Thus, the program “Create!” helps universities build the structure of a volunteer center and define the strategy for its further development. “Volunteer Workshop” aimed at developing volunteering in colleges. And the educational program “The First Step” is intended for educators who want to create a volunteer squad or improve the effectiveness of an existing group in the school.
A separate direction is general and functional briefings before major events. During these, volunteers familiarize themselves with the program, their tasks, and the specifics of a particular position. Since the beginning of the year, 44 such briefings have taken place. Practical training is especially important for large-scale events.
Study at a convenient time
For those who prefer the remote format, available are online courses. Since 2022, Mosvolonter has developed 24 programs. They are dedicated to social, environmental, cultural, sports, patriotic, and other areas, as well as the development of universal skills.
For example, the “Communication” course helps to argue your position and apply active listening techniques. The “Team Management” program discusses the distribution of roles and motivation of participants, the “Critical Thinking” course covers information analysis and decision-making, and “Planning” is dedicated to setting tasks and meeting deadlines.
The course “Digital Literacy” introduces business etiquette on the internet, personal data protection, and the use of artificial intelligence. More than 13,200 people have completed the distance learning program to date, including over 1,500 in 2026.
All online courses are free. You can start learning at any time after registering. Participants watch video lessons, study additional materials, and complete test assignments. After successfully finishing the course, a certificate appears in the profile. You can study using a computer or a phone.
