On the bridge over Lake Khmutino at the 32nd km of the northern bypass of Novosibirsk, part of the federal highway R-254 “Irtysh,” the main set of repair works has been completed by the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor). The bridge repair was carried out under the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
“Bridges and overpasses are some of the most important elements of the road network; their condition directly affects the safety and uninterrupted flow of traffic. We pay special attention to their timely renovation, especially on sections with high traffic load. Among these is the northern bypass of Novosibirsk, part of the R-254 “Irtysh” highway, which connects Novosibirsk with the western regions of Russia. This bypass creates an alternative, detour route for heavy and transit traffic. The road helps to unload the street-road network of the metropolis and reduce the number of traffic jams. As part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” the repair of the bridge over Lake Khomitino, 340 linear meters long, on the bypass has been completed. Work traffic has been opened on both lanes,” said Marat Khusnullin.
During the work, specialists eliminated the tilting deformations of the end supports, reinforced the ground of the cones using the silicatization method—injective saturation with solutions containing binding components. The structure’s railing and barrier fences, stairways were replaced, the drainage system was repaired, and the riding surface pavement was renewed. The waterproofing layer was applied mechanically using technology and materials of domestic production.
To organize uninterrupted transit traffic on the high-load section during the works, a detour with a temporary bridge was constructed. Now, the bridge workers have to dismantle the detour road and complete the final works in the area under the bridge, which do not affect traffic flow. The facility is planned to be put into operation by the end of October.
A total of four bridge structures in the Novosibirsk region were included in the 2026 repair program as part of the national project. Scheduled preventive maintenance was carried out in a short time on the bridge over the Chulym River at the 1332 km mark of the R-254 “Irtysh” route and on the overpass of the transport interchange at the 65 km mark of the northern bypass of Novosibirsk (intersection with the Barlak – Oktyabrsky road). Repair of the overpass-cattle crossing at the 1122 km mark of the R-254 “Irtysh” route, including replacement of main structural elements, is nearing completion. In addition, lifts for mobility-impaired road users were replaced at the overhead pedestrian crossing at the 33 km mark of the R-256 “Chuysky Trakt” route near the village of Rechkunovka.
