Specialists from the Central Suburban Passenger Company (CSPC) and service organizations have prepared 178 rolling stock units for the winter. This year, the inspection schedule was adjusted because the workload exceeds the usual amount. In total, experts have to inspect more than four thousand cars.
Preparation began on August 10. During the preparation for the season, the operation of heating systems, disinfectors, and air dehumidifiers is monitored, and climate control units are switched to winter mode.
Specialists are testing the heating of windshields and electrical equipment, checking door and window seals. In addition, the depot is forming a reserve of anti-icing grease for current collectors, which is necessary for the uninterrupted operation of electrical equipment in case of possible icing of the contact network.
“This year, we started preparing for winter three weeks earlier than last year, and we have now prepared 46 percent of the rolling stock fleet. The timelines were adjusted due to the increase in the number of trains. In particular, about 30 modern trains ‘Ivolga’ and EP2DM were put into operation on the Yaroslavl direction over the year. We plan to complete the preparation of the rolling stock for the winter season by early November,” said Andrey Kadushkin, head of the rolling stock department at CPPC.
Suburban trains undergo seasonal inspections at repair depots in spring and autumn. Inspectors for traffic safety, technologists, repair masters, acceptance inspectors, and occupational safety specialists are involved in the inspections. Technical services of JSC “Russian Railways” perform work on their respective sections.
