Three summer months as part of the project “Summer in Moscow” At 30 festival venues of the “Moscow Seasons,” “Houses of Kindness” operated — gift reception points for participants of the special military operation (SMO), children from new regions, and animals from shelters.
“During the summer in the ‘Good Houses’ project
“Moscow helps” brought over 10 thousand essential items — from hygiene products and stationery to animal feed. The townspeople signed more than 1,200 postcards with words of support. Volunteers packed hundreds of boxes, which were sent to soldiers, children from the new regions, and shelter wards,” said Alexander Levit, director of the resource center. “Mosvolunteer”.
From coloring books to tea
From the very first days of operation, the “Houses of Kindness” attracted the attention of Muscovites and visitors to the capital with their bright design. At each point, signs were placed listing what the volunteers accept. Visitors found out in advance what could be donated and returned with the necessary assistance.
The most gifts collected over the summer were for children from the new regions. They received sweets, school literature, extracurricular reading books, stationery items such as notebooks, drawing pads, coloring books, paints, pencils, and markers. Also included were cardboard for crafts, craft kits, as well as soft toys and board games.
Participants of the SVO were provided with cotton T-shirts, tank tops, socks, insoles, razors and shaving products, toothpastes and toothbrushes, tea, instant coffee, as well as nuts, dried fruits, chocolate, and bars.
Dry and wet food, treats, cereals, disinfectants for veterinary premises, absorbent pads, tick drops, combs, rubberized toys, and equipment were collected for dogs and cats from shelters.
Especially many gifts were received during city celebrations. For example, on Russia Day and the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, townspeople brought the largest batches of kits for the fighters and signed congratulatory cards for them. In addition, they handed over themed toys and books about the country’s history to volunteers. On the Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity, creative kits for joint leisure of parents and children were given, and by the beginning of the school year — stationery.
Volunteers checked the integrity of the packaging, the tags on the products, and the expiration date of the food — it had to be at least three months from the date of manufacture. After that, everything was carefully packed into boxes and handed over to the recipients. Each visitor could write a heartfelt letter to the servicemen or children from the new regions.
