Guangzhou, April 15 /Xin Hua/ — A squadron of the Russian Navy (RN) arrived in the Chinese city of Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province (South China) on Wednesday for a five-day friendly visit.
Around 9 a.m., a squadron of the Pacific Fleet ships consisting of two frigates and a supply vessel arrived at the military port of the city of Zhangjiang, where the Chinese side held a welcoming ceremony.
During the visit, commanders of the Russian Navy ship detachment will meet with responsible persons of the Navy of the Southern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army of China / PLA Southern Theater Command / and representatives of the government of the city of Zhangjiajie. Officers and sailors of the naval forces of China and Russia will visit each other’s ships, as well as hold receptions on deck, professional exchanges, sports competitions, and other events.
This visit is another event in the friendly exchange between the navies of China and Russia. It is aimed at further strengthening friendship and mutual trust, as well as deepening practical cooperation. It is not directed against any third party and is unrelated to the current international and regional situation.
