The major overhaul of the overpass at the 11th km of the Kemerovo bypass, part of the federal highway R-255 “Siberia,” has been completed a month ahead of schedule. The work was carried out by the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) under the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“The renovation of artificial structures is an important part of our systematic work on developing the road network. Overpasses and bridges provide connectivity between territories; their condition directly affects the safety and comfort of travel. On the Kemerovo bypass, the overpass was practically rebuilt: all structural elements were replaced, a new surface was laid, and markings were applied. And this was done a month ahead of schedule — in less than a year and a half. Now, residents of Kuzbass have more reliable communication on the section connecting the main R-255 route with the popular regional route from Kemerovo to Novokuznetsk and further towards the Altai region,” said Marat Khusnullin.

During the major overhaul, the road workers installed new piles, supports, span beams, railing and barrier fences. Layers of bridge deck with an asphalt concrete coating were laid on the roadway, and horizontal markings were applied with thermoplastic.

For uninterrupted movement of transit traffic during the entire period of work, a comfortable and safe detour was organized along the ramps of the nearest interchange.
