Deputy Prime Minister, supervisor of the Volga Federal District Dmitry Chernyshenko held a working meeting with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. They discussed issues of development of tourism, sports, science, education, and youth policy in the republic.

“On the eve of Tourism Day, it is important to note the active participation of the Republic of Tatarstan in the national project ‘Tourism and Hospitality,’ implemented under the directive of President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Thanks to government support measures, including a unified subsidy and preferential lending, new hotels, recreation centers, and aquathermal complexes are being created. This helps open additional opportunities for comfortable leisure for local residents and guests, as well as strengthen the republic’s position as one of the popular tourist destinations. As a result, Tatarstan ranks among the top five leaders in the number of tourist trips from January to July of this year,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of developing patriotic tourism and called for participation in the project “SVOy Put'”, which involves creating patriotic tourism centers for the social adaptation of combat veterans.

Speaking about cooperation in the field of sports, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Rustam Minnikhanov noted that this year several major facilities appeared in Tatarstan: the Football Development Center and the Figure Skating Center were opened, and the Archery Center also started operating. In the republic’s districts, four football arenas and three ice palaces were put into operation. Thanks to modern infrastructure facilities, the number of people engaged in sports in the republic has reached 67%.

“It is important for us that every resident of Tatarstan, regardless of age, has the opportunity to engage in physical culture and sports, and lead a healthy lifestyle,” emphasized Rustam Minnikhanov.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the active work of the Republic of Tatarstan in the fields of science, education, and youth policy.

“The Republic of Tatarstan is involved in a whole range of measures under the national project ‘Youth and Children’: the ‘Priority-2030’ program, the ‘Advanced Engineering Schools’ and ‘Professionalitet’ projects. You have youth laboratories operating, infrastructure is developing, and material and technical facilities are being renewed. All this, combined with the hard work and activity of local residents, helps Tatarstan consistently rank among the top three leaders in the national rating of scientific and technological development of the subjects of the Russian Federation,” added the deputy prime minister.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan is one of the leaders in youth policy in Russia. The republic is home to over 1 million young people aged 14 to 35, which constitutes about a quarter of the region’s population.

The delegation of Tatarstan participated in the International Youth Festival – 2026 in Yekaterinburg.

In Tatarstan, a rich experience of working with children and youth has been accumulated. In particular, close attention is traditionally paid to the development of infrastructure for children’s summer recreation, the improvement of housing conditions for young people, and the support of their initiatives in various fields. Interaction is maintained with leading federal scientific centers and universities. This contributes to improving the quality of education and integrating advanced scientific developments.
