A delegation from Hubei Province and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) visited Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The negotiations covered joint projects in biomedicine, virology, materials science, artificial intelligence in industry, engineering education, and scientific exchange.

The delegation included Wang Xingye, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, department staff Zeng Yi, Feng Xinxin, and Li Cuihua, Professor Su Housheng of HUST, and Associate Professor Xia Tao of Wuhan University of Science and Technology.

The delegation toured the laboratories of the Graduate School of Cyber-Physical Systems Management: intelligent robotics and cyber-physical systems, cyber-physical control systems in energy, intelligent industrial automation systems, and intelligent control systems. Then Professor Vyacheslav Shkodyrev and colleagues presented the guests with a platform for optimization and predictive analysis of manufacturing processes.

At the negotiations with the International Cooperation Department and SPbPU institutes, the director of the Institute of Biomedical Systems and Biotechnology Andrey Vasin, the researcher of the biomedical image and data analysis laboratory of IBSiB Vyacheslav Chukanov, and the director of the Higher School of Mechanical Engineering, deputy director of IMM&T Anton Naumov spoke. Representatives of Polytech put forward proposals for cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence application in industry; ideas for joint projects with the Institute of Medical Equipment and the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering of HUST, as well as with the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Mr. Wan Xinye proposed that the Polytechnic University expand scientific cooperation. Among the priority areas are joint participation in international grant competitions, exchange of researchers, organization of specialized conferences and exhibitions, development of educational programs taking into account the demands of large businesses.

We fully support these initiatives. But in order to successfully apply for grants, our working groups need joint publications — this is a key condition. On our part, we are ready to involve experts in the development of joint educational programs, invite Chinese students to summer and winter schools, as well as organize advanced training for industry specialists, emphasized Vladimir Khizhnyak, head of the International Cooperation Department at SPbPU.
