The city has decided to extend the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya metro line to the Kurkino district and the Moscow region’s Khimki. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Policy and Construction. Vladimir Yefimov.
Earlier, Sergey Sobyanin, during a visit to the plant in Mytishchi, spoke about plans extend the metro to Khimki, Mytishchi, Balashikha, and Krasnogorsk.
“The plans for metro development announced by Sergey Sobyanin provide for the construction of about 35 stations by 2035, 12 of which will be located directly in the Moscow region. Thus, the northern radius of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line has been decided to be extended to the urban district of Khimki and the Moscow district of Kurkino. The length of the new section will exceed five kilometers. Two stations will appear here — ‘Khimki,’ which will be located near Kurkinskoye highway, and the terminal ‘Kurkino.’ Residents of Kurkino, the nearby Putilkovo district of the Krasnogorsk district, and Khimki will be able to travel quickly and comfortably to the capital and back. The extension of the metro into the Moscow region became possible thanks to systematic work on developing the capital’s transport framework: since 2011, 130 stations have already been built and reconstructed in the city,” said Vladimir Yefimov.
The new section will make the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line the first to have two stations in the Moscow suburbs — the already operational Kotelniki and the future Khimki. The extension of the line northwest through the MKAD is expected to improve transport accessibility for about 454 thousand residents of Kurkino, as well as the Moscow suburbs of Putilkovo and Khimki. In addition, it will help reduce the load on the Planernaya, Belomorskaya, Khovrino stations, and on Leningradskoye Highway.
“For residents of the areas near the new ‘Khimki’ and ‘Kurkino’ stations, travel time to the rail framework will be reduced sixfold, and it will become more convenient to reach more than 70 social, educational, and leisure facilities. We expect that over 70,000 passengers will use the new metro section daily. They will have convenient transfers to 22 metro stations, Moscow Central Circle and Moscow Central Diameters. In addition, the extension of the line to the northwest will attract another 15,000 new metro passengers. They will be transported by modern trains of Russian manufacture,
Plans include the further development of other metro lines. Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line, which opened on September 5, is planned to be extended to Krasnogorsk. The Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line is to be extended to Balashikha, the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line to Mytishchi. The Lyublinsko-Dmitrovskaya and Biryulyovskaya lines are planned to be extended to the Leninsky urban district. At the same time, the Biryulyovskaya line will also cover the Moscow districts of Shcherbinka, Kommunarka, and Filimonkovsky. About 3.7 million residents of the Moscow region will have access to the metro within walking distance. Thanks to this, passengers will be able to save from 30 to 60 minutes on trips.
