From September 14 to 18, the 45th Anniversary All-Russian Student Olympiad in Strength of Materials was held at the Ural Federal University (UrFU) in Yekaterinburg.

The event was attended by 76 students from 21 technical universities in Russia and Kyrgyzstan. After the ceremonial opening of the Olympiad, the students got to know each other through a quiz, and the main competition stage consisted of solving six Olympiad problems.

In addition to the main part, the program included a tour of the laboratories and museum of UrFU, the advanced engineering school of this university, as well as a bus tour around Yekaterinburg with a visit to the border between Europe and Asia.

The Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was represented by third-year students of the construction faculty Darya Yuraneva (third year of the Faculty of Civil Engineering), Rostislav Surin and Matvey Matveev. Darya Yuraneva (academic supervisor – associate professor of the Department of Structural Mechanics at St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering) Nadezhda Ostrovskaya) performed most successfully and took second place among participants from the Northwestern Federal District. As a result, our university’s team improved last year’s result and entered the top ten in the all-Russian rankings.

Congratulations and best wishes for new successes!
