“The celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Saint Luke of Crimea will take place in 2027. The corresponding decree was signed by President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The decision to celebrate was made due to the significant contribution of the saint in preserving spiritual and moral values, the development of medicine and science. The prepared plan of commemorative events includes 124 initiatives in Russian regions and abroad,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.

The main event plan was prepared by the Ministry of Culture together with the Patriarchal Council for Culture of the Russian Orthodox Church and members of the organizing committee. It included ceremonial and educational, memorial, exhibition, and publishing projects, scientific and practical conferences and round tables, the creation of documentary and animated films about St. Luke, as well as restoration and repair work on sites associated with the life and service of St. Luke.

It is aimed at forming traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, including based on examples from the lives of outstanding personalities and heroes of our Fatherland. In addition, an exhibition dedicated to Saint Luke is planned to be held in the historical parks ‘Russia – My History.’ There will also be a school essay contest and a book fair,” Sergey Kravtsov reported.
