The summer of 2026 became a record-breaking period for the number of marriages registered in Moscow over the past 10 years. Over three months, more than 41 thousand couples got married in the capital, which is 15 percent more than the previous year. At the same time, more than eight thousand ceremonies took place at unusual venues as part of the project. “New addresses of happiness”. This was reported by Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
“This year, the summer wedding season in Moscow has been the most successful in the last 10 years. From June to August, over 41,000 marriages were registered in the capital — 15 percent more than a year ago. Today, newlyweds can choose the ceremony format that suits them best — from a classic registration at the Marriage Palace to a wedding in a historic estate or a landmark urban space. Every second ceremony this summer took place in the marriage palaces. The most popular was the new Mitinsky Palace, where almost three thousand couples got married. At the same time, interest in unusual venues continues to grow: more than eight thousand couples chose the “New Addresses of Happiness” project. This is every fifth wedding ceremony in the capital and a record result for the summer season since the project’s launch,” said Anastasia Rakova.
The highest number of registrations occurred in August. Nearly 15,000 couples got married in Moscow that month. This was a record for August since 2015: usually in the last month of summer, about 13,000 marriages are registered in the capital.
The most popular date of the summer season turned out to be June 26. On this day, about 1,500 wedding ceremonies took place. In terms of the number of registrations, the date ranked among the top three in the past 50 years. Almost the same number of couples chose August 8 for their wedding — nearly 1,500 marriages were registered then. On June 6, 1,300 couples got married, and on June 20 and August 26 — about a thousand each. As in previous years, Muscovites most often chose Fridays and Saturdays for registration. These days accounted for 22 and 27 percent of summer weddings, respectively.
The most popular venue became the new Mitinsky wedding palace. Nearly three thousand couples registered their marriage there over the three summer months. On a regular day, staff conducted about 45 ceremonies, while on the most in-demand dates, their number exceeded 70. Leading venues included wedding palaces No. 1 and No. 4. The first was chosen by 2,800 couples, and the second by 2,700.
To register marriages on the most popular dates, the capital’s civil registry offices increased the number of available slots. Thus, on June 6, 20, and 26, as well as on August 8, wedding palaces were open until 9:00 PM. The registry office doors were also open on July 26 — a Sunday when most palaces usually do not accept couples for ceremonies.

At the same time, more and more Muscovites are choosing unusual urban spaces for their weddings. The leader in the number of registrations was the Spiridonov mansion — 687 couples got married there. The Vorontsovo estate, under the jurisdiction of the capital Department of Culture, where the possibility to register a marriage appeared for the first time this season, was chosen by 508 couples. At the National Hotel, 494 ceremonies took place, at the A.S. Pushkin Library-Reading Room — 474, and at the OKO Tower — 463.
Some of the ceremonies took place at the project’s venues “Summer in Moscow”. Couples could register their marriage at Manezhnaya, Bolotnaya, and Tverskaya Squares, as well as on Tverskoy and Gogolevsky Boulevards. Ceremonial events were also held at the venues of the “Theatrical Boulevard” — in the amphitheater near the Polytechnic Museum and on the “Circle” stage on Chistoprudny Boulevard. The high demand for such venues led to a threefold increase in the number of available slots.
In total, more than 60 venues are available for holding ceremonial events in Moscow. In addition to wedding palaces, this list includes museums, estates, restaurants, and other urban spaces, including the Mayakovskaya metro station.
As told in the capital Department of Information Technology, you can choose a wedding venue using the service “Our Wedding” on the mos.ru portal. It features filters by venue type, interior style, and other parameters. The user can specify the desired registration date, the nearest metro station, and the maximum number of guests.
You can apply for marriage registration on the public services portal, mos.ru or directly in the wedding palaces. The state fee is 350 rubles.
