Nanning, September 16 /Xinhua/ — On Wednesday, navigation was opened on the Pinglu Canal in China. The new waterway will provide landlocked southwestern regions of the country with the shortest access to the coast and further to international markets. In particular, it opens a convenient transportation route to ASEAN countries.
Recall that ASEAN is China’s largest trading partner.
The Pinlu Canal, stretching 134.2 km, runs from Nanning, the administrative center of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China, to the Beibu Gulf — the nearest sea outlet for most of southwest China.
