State Public Institution “Transport Organizer” Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the City of Moscow and the Department of Children’s and Young Adult Literature of one of the largest publishing associations are starting a series of meetings with authors of children’s and young adult books. As part of the project, passengers will get acquainted with writers, artists, and editors, talk with them about books, characters, and stories, learn about contemporary children’s literature and its authors, as well as discover new books, trends, and genres. “By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, we are developing river traffic in the capital. Today, regular electric vessels are not only comfortable and modern transportation but also a venue for various events. We have been holding free lectures here since October of last year, and now we are launching a new project in partnership with the publishing house ‘AST-Azbuka’,” said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
Themed flights operate every day on the second, third, and fourth routes. They are designed for people of all ages. The first lecture of the new series will take place on September 18 at 11:30 on the electric ship of the second regular river route ZIL — Pechatniki. The topic is “Saturn and its retinue: an unusual journey to the gas giant system.” It will be conducted by Ekaterina Avsyannikova, a writer and author of science fiction and popular science books for children and teenagers. During the lecture, listeners will learn where the mountains on Saturn’s rings come from, who the shepherd moons are, and why Titan is called the tanker of the Solar System.

“Together with the Moscow Department of Transportation, we want children’s literature to be a part of the everyday life of city residents, not limited only to the walls of a school or a bookstore. Today, four regular river routes operate in the capital: Kievsky — Fili Park, ZIL — Pechatniki, Novospassky — ZIL, and Luzhniki — Kievsky. Their total length is about 34 kilometers, and the fleet includes 31 innovative electric vessels. Thanks to the launch of these routes, more than 1.8 million people living in 22 districts of Moscow have gained access to a new mode of transport. Since the resumption of regular river traffic in Moscow, passengers have made over 4.2 million trips on them.
