Deputy Prime Minister – Chief of Staff of the Government Dmitry Grigorenko held a meeting with the Governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Denis Pasler, on issues related to the implementation of IT solutions in key sectors of the region’s economy.
“The IT sector in Russia is actively developing, and along with it, the demand for modern digital infrastructure is growing. In several cities, including Yekaterinburg, 5G standard communication has already been launched by order of the President of Russia. One of the key directions remains the implementation of artificial intelligence in public services and platforms. To scale such solutions, appropriate computing power and data centers are necessary. A modern data center has already been built in Yekaterinburg. It is important to continue accelerating the creation of digital infrastructure to support the introduction of new technologies and solutions,” said Dmitry Grigorenko.
In the Sverdlovsk region, IT solutions are actively being implemented in key economic sectors and the social sphere. Technologies of computer vision have been introduced into the regional healthcare system: they assist doctors in analyzing X-rays and tomography. Using digital vision in the woodworking industry, Sverdlovsk manufacturers can detect external and hidden defects in products. At Ural enterprises, the development of a unified automated system for managing technological processes is underway, which includes deep automation of processes, including the use of robotics elements and AI components.
“In the Sverdlovsk region, we are actively implementing digital technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare, education, public administration, and other sectors. IT technologies are widely used in many Ural enterprises, helping to carry out production tasks. This reduces production times, cuts losses, and helps to produce higher quality products,” said Denis Pasler.
The Sverdlovsk region also pays special attention to the training of qualified IT personnel. Recently, the digital technology center “School 21” started its work at the Institute of Radio Electronics and Information Technologies – RTF, located on the campus of the Ural Federal University. Its curriculum includes the study of digital technologies in microelectronics, artificial intelligence, data analysis, and digital support of technological processes.
In addition, a children’s technopark called “Quantorium” has been opened in the region. This is a space for children and teenagers (from 11 to 17 years old) where they develop an interest in science, technology, and engineering in a practice-oriented environment. Children study mechanics, electronics, and programming, create and test their own designs, and then compete with them in competitions. This approach allows kids to gain practical engineering experience while still in school.
During a working visit to Yekaterinburg, Dmitry Grigorenko visited “Quantorium” and met with the teams preparing to represent the Sverdlovsk region at the international “Battle of Robots.” The Deputy Prime Minister was shown the facilities where schoolchildren master modern technologies. In the industrial robotics workshop, the kids work on mechanics, programming, and designing automated devices. In the high-tech workshop, they work with 3D modeling, electronics, microcontrollers, 3D printers, 3D scanners, CNC milling machines, and laser machines.
The Sverdlovsk region is consistently developing a system for training future engineers. The Youth Palace and the Ministry of Education of the Sverdlovsk region have been organizing the all-Russian competition “Robot Battles” for six years. About 120 schoolchildren from eight to ten regions of Russia participate annually. In the “Professionals” championship, students from the technopark win the regional stage among juniors every year. In 2026, they took second place in the final championship in the competency “CAD Engineering Design” in the SPO category.
