On the eve of International Tourism Day, a record was set on the Bolshaya Sukhotinskaya Trail, created as part of the “Far East Trails” project. There were 8,126 people on the route at the same time. The achievement was officially recorded in the Russian Book of Records in the category “The largest number of people simultaneously present on one tourist route in Russia.”

Deputy Prime Minister – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, initiator of the “Trails of the Far East” project Yuri Trutnev noted: “The federal project ‘Trails of the Far East’ was created so that residents of the regions and tourists visiting the Far Eastern regions can explore the amazing nature of the Far East under comfortable conditions, where convenience is combined with careful treatment of the environment. Special attention in choosing routes is given to ensuring that people become acquainted with the history of their land and cultural sites. We see interest in the trails both from local residents and from those who came to relax. This means that such work is in demand and needed by people.”

Julia Ivanova, Deputy Director of the Investment Department of the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (CDFEA), spoke about the significance of the record for the development of the territory: “The new route is attracting more and more attention. The number of visitors is tens of thousands, and now a new Russian record has been set for the simultaneous presence of people on a single tourist route. This is the best confirmation that the “Trails of the Far East” project is fulfilling its main goal: creating high-quality tourist infrastructure, in demand by local residents and visitors to the region. In the near future, we expect new cafes, hotels, souvenir shops, and other offerings for tourists to appear around the trails.”

The Minister of Science and Vocational Education of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Natalya Vikulova, emphasized: “We have set a record! Thousands of people from Chita and guests of the city gathered on the Great Sukhotiinskaya Trail – and it is especially pleasant to see many young people. People came despite the bad weather, and this is the best confirmation of our unity.”

The record holder is the state autonomous institution of the Trans-Baikal Territory “Ethnoarchaeopark ‘Sukhothino'”, the event was organized by the Ministry of Science and Professional Education of the Trans-Baikal Territory (city of Chita, Trans-Baikal Territory). The “Trails of the Far East” project is being implemented by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East with the support of the KRDV on the instructions of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev. It includes 18 eco-routes in 9 Far Eastern regions with a total length of 127 km. 1.8 billion rubles have been allocated for project implementation within the framework of a unified presidential subsidy.
