On September 11, the ceremonial opening of engineering and construction classes took place at the Yaninsky Education Center (Vsevolozhsky District of the Leningrad Region).

The project is being implemented with the support of the Committee for Construction of the Leningrad Region, the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and the Rasvetsay Group of Companies. The chairman of the Committee for Construction of the Leningrad Region delivered welcoming remarks Egor Nikitenko and the head of administration of the Vsevolozhsky Municipal District of the Leningrad Region Andrey Voropaev. A tripartite cooperation agreement was signed by the director of the Yaninsky Education Center Nikolay Svirin, Vice-Rector of SPbGASU for Continuing Education Victoria Vinogradova and CEO of the ‘Rastsveitai’ Group of Companies Artyom Matyash.

“Today we signed an important agreement that opens up concrete opportunities for you: meetings with professionals, tours of facilities, work with modern technologies, acquaintance with university laboratories, and most importantly, the chance to try out the profession even before entering the university,” addressed Viktoria Vinogradova to the schoolchildren.

There are two training directions provided for students:

  • engineering and construction profile for tenth-graders, where the kids will deeply study mathematics and physics, as well as get acquainted with modern technologies and features of the construction industry;

  • additional education program cycle “Digital Construction Class” for eighth-graders, where the program includes mastering basic engineering competencies and building information modeling technologies.

A practical training component for schoolchildren will become an important part of the project. Specialists from SPbGASU and representatives of the construction industry are planned to be involved in the classes. Students will be able to work on real professional tasks, get acquainted with modern technologies, and visit construction sites and university laboratories.

“Thanks to our partners – Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and the Rascvetay Group of Companies! Your programs and real cases are exactly that bridge between the school desk and the construction site, between the blueprint and the finished building. Thanks to such interaction, students understand how the industry operates not abstractly, but here, in the Leningrad Region, and what challenges builders and designers currently face, which competencies are particularly in demand,” said Nikolai Svirin.

The first lesson for the students of the engineering classes was held at the opening ceremony. They had the opportunity to ask the event’s guests questions about in-demand professions, the possibilities for their first internships, and career prospects in the region’s construction sector. In addition, together with experts, the schoolchildren discussed the roles of specialists at construction sites, the organization of construction production, industry development prospects, and the possibilities of information modeling technologies. In particular, the students learned about the specifics of using laser scanning and 4D modeling technologies in relation to the construction industry.

According to Yegor Nikitenko, the development of engineering and construction classes is linked to the region’s growing need for qualified personnel. Specialized education allows students to become acquainted in advance with promising professions and to form a trajectory for further professional development.

The tripartite agreement between the Yaninsky Education Center, SPbGASU, and the ‘Rastsvetay’ Group of Companies provides for the further development of joint educational projects. Among the areas of cooperation are practical classes, meetings with professionals, excursions to construction sites and university laboratories, as well as working on real production tasks.

The opening of engineering and construction classes in Yanino became another step in creating a continuous educational trajectory “school – university – enterprise,” which allows future specialists to get acquainted with the profession even before entering the university and to gain their first practical experience.
